More about working with me

Frequency of sessions

When I begin working with a client, it’s important for me to get to know them, and for them to begin to feel comfortable and safe with me. I have found that this is best achieved through regular, weekly, psychotherapy in the beginning of therapy.  After the first 3-4 sessions we will reassess and find a cadence that fits.

If you for some reason aren’t able to meet that often, let me know and we’ll see if we can tailor something that makes sense.

Using insurance

With the exception of insurance companies that work with Prescriba, if you have insurance, you still must pay in advance. I will provide you with an invoice so you can get reimbursed.

Canceling an appointment

Canceling an appointment is done by e-mail to kontakt@tinabjarnskov.dk

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please let me know at least 24 hours (72 hours if your appointment is on a Monday) in advance.

Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice—or missed appointments—will be charged the full session fee. This policy allows me the chance to offer the appointment to another client who may be waiting.

I understand that life happens, and unexpected situations can come up. If something urgent prevents you from attending, please reach out—I’ll always do my best to respond with care and flexibility when possible.

Free consultations

I give free individual consultations through the Little White House, every other Wednesday at 14.

Goals

When we start working together, we will, in the first couple of sessions, try to agree on some general goals of treatment. Generally we want to see some beginning signs of improvement after the first 3-4 sessions. If for some reason, you are not improving, we will try to understand why and change how we approach therapy.

Technique/style

Over the years I have trained in many different styles and methods. I am trained in ISTDP (Intensive Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy) which is a type of therapy that helps you understand and work through deep emotional struggles that may be holding you back. It focuses on getting to the root of issues – often things you’ve pushed away or avoided – and helps you feel and process those emotions in a safe, supportive space. I’m also trained in CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), which focuses on the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and actions. I often provide practical homework because I believe meaningful change doesn’t just happen in sessions—it continues and grows in your everyday life.

I offer therapy in a warm and respectful space – balancing genuine care with both a sense of humor and the seriousness your challenges deserve.

Available times/days

I generally work from my office on Monday to Friday. Online appointments are also available.

Online versus in person

I primarily work with clients in person, but I’m also open to online sessions when needed. Occasionally, I may need to move an in-person session online—for example, if I’m traveling or if one of us isn’t feeling well. If you prefer only in-person appointments and are not comfortable with occasional online sessions, another therapist might be a better fit.
